Bassnectar – Colorstorm Remixtape

Everything this man releases these days just seems to be pure gold. The man himself, Bassnectar, has always been on the forefront of bass music over the years and continues to show his strength on this fresh release. This 35 minute explosion of sounds explores the depths of his brand of dubstep, DnB, some industrial and great classic mashups. His music displays the perfect combination of heavy and intense wobbles and synths while maintaining a beat that forces your feet to move. Be sure to listen for some unreleased tracks and do not hesitate to download this mix for free right here.

Dirtyphonics – The Mystery Mix

Although Dirtyphonics claims to be from Paris, their music is definitely from the far reaches of the universe. This new mystery mix on their soundcloud starts off like a meteor from space with their remix of Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites. It seems that the pace only quickens as this compilation of madness escalates towards pure insanity. It’s only a thirty minute mix but not one of them is close to being bad. If you are not particularly fond of DnB, consider this mix your pathway to conversion. Dirtyphonics guide their listeners on a journey through a galaxy of glitches, perfect vocal samples, driving drum beats, and some very unique and evolved bass music. If you’re a bass head already do not hesitate to snag this mix immediately! As for those skeptics out there, buckle up, the future have arrived!

Nero – New Life

Just days after the epic release of the “Feel so close” remix, Nero dishes out this slice of DnB magic. Forming somewhere in the cosmos, this song starts out in typical Nero fashion with a dramatic buildup and never slows down. The song kicks into a fast driving bass line with perfectly layered synths and robotic vocals. This great new release from the legendary duo really shows how these two are constantly pushing themselves as artists. Big ups to the boys as they absolutely kill it on this track!

Dr. Dre – Keep Their Heads Ringin (Figure Drumstep Edit)

I have massive respect for Figure.  Not only is he a fantastic producer, but he is always making music.  The guy understands that he loves to make music and there are a lot of people out there that love to listen what he has cooking up.  Well, yet again Figure has dropped some serious knowledge on the Drumstep community with an unbelievable edit of Dr. Dre’s “Keep Their Heads Ringin.”  Wonderful samples of Dr. Dre with a dose of Drumstep to really get your heads ringin.  Check it out and if you like click the link below to be taken to Figure’s website where you can download the track.

Rusko US Tour 2011

Now, most of you know Rusko will be gracing the streets of Madison, WI on April 21st at the Orpheum for what promises to be a night filled with neon colors, stank faces, and lots and lots of Dub!  The video doesn’t confirm anything, but I’m hoping that it’s also a preview for his light set up which I really like.  What’s better than your name in big 100 watt lights?  Rusko is just one of the many shows in the coming weeks involved in the EDM community.  Downlink this Saturday, Wolfgang Sunday, Rusko next Thursday, Shpongle April 26th, Avicii April 27th, and Funkagenda April 29th to top things off.  Madison is diving head first into the Dance Music craze and there’s nobody who loves it more than me.  Expect some show previews soon for Downlink and Wolfgang, don’t forget to grab your Rusko tickets here, and watch out for a special ticket give away for one of these upcoming shows!  Stay tuned boys and girls.

Bonus!!

Here’s the track from the video.  Download and get excited!

Avicii & Sebastien Drums – My Feelings For You (The Prototypes Remix)

Here’s our first Drum & Bass post!!!!  Now you ask, who are The Prototypes.  Well, The Prototypes are making some serious noise in the Drum & Bass pond, some seriously distorted and insanely energizing noise.  The Prototypes continue their splash with a great remix of Avicii & Sebastien Drums track, the never get old “My Feelings For You.”  To be honest, I think just about any genre of music could make a catchy track using the Gwen McCrae “All This Love That I’m Giving” sample.  Still, The Prototypes chop the sample beautifully to fit better with the quick pace of DnB.  I love the breakdown at 2:13 where they bring in the chords from the original track, just as a tease, so that these madmen could build you back up into a bombastic frenzy.  Take a listen and go grab this riot starter at Beatport.

Welcome to Sound Of My Shoes!

Hello to the wonderful Electronic Dance Music community.  Today, we the Sound of my Shoes crew would like to announce our birth into the EDM blogging scene.  First, we would like to start with our mission statement (boring I know, but trust me we will follow through).  We are committed to providing our readers with multiple daily posts to which you can count on bangin’ hot EDM from all genres from Drum and Bass, tech-house, drumstep and electro house.  But this is not just about music.  We will also provide you with all you need to know about EDM news and events both locally and nationally.

Now to introduce ourselves, we are three EDM crazies, with nothing better to do with our lives than share our love with our fellow addicts.  SOMS is composed of two local DJ’s, one aspiring producer, and one cackling, gaggling nutcase (better known as Jake Clavette aka Clavé, Andrew Karabon, and Brendan Dolan).  Together, these boys form Sounds Of My Shoes, an EDM collective of Madison, WI.  We are also in the process of launching a radio show on WSUM 91.7 fm Madison.

We are seriously psyched to connect with everyone and cannot wait to share all the news and happenings of the EDM scene.  We would love to hear from you so please feel free to send us your song suggestions, promos, comments, and anything else you think we might be interested in.

Cheers,

SOMS Crew
